Volunteering with Buena Bands We always need volunteers to help with the various band and fundraising events throughout the year. Come join us and give us a little of your "sweat equity" to support the Buena Bands Program! If you are interested in volunteering in any of our activities, please contact Madia Riggeal, our Volunteer Coordinator. ![]() Ways you can help... Fundraising activities: Fundraising is one of the biggest ways the Association supports Buena Bands. Contact our Volunteer Coordinator if you wish to help in a fundraising event, or our Fundraising Coordinator if you wish to be a sponsor or have ideas for a fundraiser. For more information about our annual fundraising events, click here. Pit Crew: The pit crew is a group of volunteers who assist with moving, setting up, and breaking down the Buena Marching Colts band pit. Click here to find out more about the Pit. Contact Mr. Duane Chun, the Buena Bands Program director, for more information about joining the Pit Crew. Chaperones: The band directors always need chaperones for band trips, like "away" football games, band competitions and invitationals, and other events. Chaperones are very key to these band trips. Without them, the band is not allowed to travel. Please volunteer to chaperone and have a great time traveling with our bands! Music Mentorship Program: Mr Chun wants to start a Music Mentorship Program for Buena Bands students to prepare them for state and regional music scholarship programs. If you are a musician or music teacher, and are interested in volunteering your time and experience to help our students, contact Glenn Becker , the mentorship program coordinator, via email by clicking on his name above , or by phone at 439-0438. Food Handlers: We need volunteers who have a Food Handler's permit to help at our fundraising activities. The test for the permit can be taken free of cost at the Cochise County Health Department office. Event Coordinators: We need volunteers to take lead and coordinate all aspects of each fundraising event. We need one coordinator per event. Game Snacks Volunteers: Assist the band directors by distributing water and snacks to the band and auxiliary during home Football games. You can also help by providing the snacks for a particular game. Concessions: The Buena Bands Association normally runs the concessions stand during events held at the Buena Performing Arts Center. Association volunteers sell water, sodas, snacks, candy, and flowers during these events to raise funds for the bands program. Band Camp: Support your musicians during the annual Band Camp by helping with the Band Camp Barbeque or by bringing food to share at the annual End-of-Band Camp Family Pot Luck dinner. Other Volunteering Opportunities: If you have a special talent and wish to help, we need you! We can always use folks with skills like baking, coordinating activities, wood or iron working (we are in dire need of a percussion platform or instrument cart), or writing grants for funds, soliciting donations from the community, or sharing new ideas for supporting our bands program. Contact our Association President if you are interested! |
